Novotel

In 2020 we had the opportunity to create a lighting design for Hotel Novotel Amsterdam Airport. More specifically for a space in a glass "greenhouse" that is suitable for holding parties, (gala) dinners, networking meetings, conferences and business presentations. In short, a multifunctional space that should also be a pleasant place to be in the evening and at night. On the basis of the following images of our designer Gerrit Jan, we show how this lighting plan was constructed.

  1. Create basic lighting: This creates a general level of light so that we can properly orient and move throughout the room. Depending on the application, this light level can be higher and/or more uniform.
  2. Create excitement: By creating light accents we create contrasts that make the space more lively. By choosing the accents well, different room elements also stand out better.
  3. Create height and guidance: By lighting the entire back wall we create the perception of height. By using line lighting we accentuate the entrances and provide visual guidance and orientation.
  4. Create depth: In this case we also want to make the world outside the glass greenhouse visible. By illuminating the vertical facades outside the greenhouse, we add depth and put the whole in context.
